CONVERGE. First Nations Media National Conference.

Pre Kistensamy, Senior Audio Visual Consultant, November 2018

JHA’s Senior Audio Visual Consultant Pre Kistensamy will be swapping his engineering hat to provide technical direction to the Audio Visual team at this week’s annual 2018 CONVERGE Conference. Converge hosts the First Nations Media Awards and is the peak body for First Nations not-for-profit broadcasting, media and communications. For the first time since the event began in 2001, Converge will be held on Eora Country in Sydney.

Pre has been involved with the Converge event for the past 3 years in its usual meeting place in remote indigenous communities. In areas where technical hardware isn’t so easy to come by, Pre has come to embrace the limited resources of remote communities to ensure the Audio Visual component of each event is ready to go on arrival.

This year the challenge for Pre is somewhat different, as he works to manage a large-scale Audio Visual Team at the biggest Converge Conference yet. Media professionals and organisations will come together to enjoy live music, guest speakers and an annual award ceremony, all live streamed on Facebook. The Conference will also welcome the official launch of indigiTUBE, an indigenous media platform for First Nations people to preserve traditional language and culture for present and future generations.
