Newcastle Private Hospital Redevelopment

The redevelopment of Newcastle Private Hospital incorporates the construction of a new 8 level building immediately adjacent to, and connected to the existing Hospital.

The new works include 3 levels of car parking, Cath lab, CCU beds, refurbishment of existing wards/consulting suites, recovery area, a range of tenanted consultancy suites, theatre and storage areas.

JHA undertook comprehensive audits of existing hospital services infrastructure (incl. BMS, security, IT, wet fire, mechanical, generator support, medical gases, etc.) to ensure that they were expanded into the new works in a seamless manner.

The audits included discussions with Hospital Engineering staff, existing maintenance contractors, manufacturers and suppliers as a minimum. The outcomes of the audits were presented to the stakeholders in a detailed return brief.

JHA delivered sound engineering design with the key factors in mind:

  • Seamless interfacing between the new and existing services
  • Maintaining full functionality of existing hospital with no unscheduled outages
  • All works on existing infrastructure involved a methodology and risk assessment (incl. risk identification & associated interruption time period and contingency measures)
  • Careful preparation during Stage 1 design to avoid/minimise abortive and disruptive works during Stage 2
