Chatswood RSL is the premier club on the Sydney Lower North Shore, providing entertainment and dining for over 25,000 members. A longstanding collaborator, JHA recently delivered specialist lighting, electrical, and audio-visual consultancy services for the club’s refurbishment, encompassing the reception and foyer, pizza bar and bistro, Dim Joy House, and Yogi’s Sports bar. The interior design of the refurbishment was led by Pony Design Co.
The lighting design of the Victoria Avenue foyer features decorative and concealed integrated lighting to provide a warm and welcoming atmosphere for visitors. The featured linen canopy draped above the reception area provides ambient lighting, enhancing the arrival experience and allowing the central reception desk's sculptural forms to come to life.
Layering of light and decorative wall luminaires were used to highlight the evolving textures of the foyer and adjoining spaces culminating in a striking feature pendant suspended in the stair void, creating a visually rich journey for patrons and staff.
Dim Joy House is a modern Asian-fusion and yum cha restaurant that brings families together in a fresh, contemporary dining experience. Concealed lighting is key to accentuating the Buddhist temple ceiling awning, wall timber panelling, ornate wallpaper and custom joinery design. The result is a warm and calm dining experience.
Yogi’s Sports Bar is Pony Design Co.’s modern take on the classic American sports bar. Bold and playful lighting enhances the sporting venue-inspired interiors and infuses the space with electric energy to create an action-packed and unique destination for the locals.
This high-sensation, high-energy atmosphere is created using custom-coloured track lighting for accent lighting on tables, RGBW linear light throughout the seating and arcade to create separation and continued design rhythm, integrated joinery lighting to accent display bar beverages and decorative ambient dapple lights.
